All because...

Been the glorified babysitter for these rugrats since Tuesday (everyone else went my little brother's wedding in Colorado).

Left to Right: Bremen, Brunswick, Dresden (front), Siegen and Bexley. Bremen is my dog and the rest are brother's/parent's
It is not too often that I can get all five dogs to either sleep or keep themselves busy. It is during those rare times that I take the chance to sneak in a scrapbook page of my never ending wedding photos. I give you... my finished product:
Top: Nanny MacPherson
Bottom: Grami and Papa Strong
Fashioned these from pieces of torn paper and ribbon
Punched tiny holes for buttons to fasten onto
Glimmer Mist: Raven, Turquoise Blue and Cranberry Zing
Sprayed on to make "dripped paint" affect and splattered ink marks

Speedy Gonzalez!

Man oh man! Sometimes I surprise myself in the amount of time I finish a painting. Last night around 10pm I was commissioned for a painting. I bought the canvas this morning and started the painting around 3pm. By golly if I didn't finished that painting by 7pm!!! I would say that is record breaking, wouldn't you?
What's that, you wanna see the painting I finished in 4 hours you said? Well... I guess I can do that, but only for you. Here you have it

Who says?

Who says you cant mix painting with scrap booking??? Because of my fancy to painting more and more lately the idea of having to put them all away to finish part of my wedding album made me itch. As I sat with the album, pictures, glue and paper I decided that that was a crazy assumption... I could do them BOTH!!! This may not be a revolutionary idea to some of you but to me... well let's just say I felt like an art genius. <3 Therefore, because of this stroke of genius (mostly just in my own head) I decided to show you a snippet into what I was working on. Enjoy and loves! <3

New!!!

I have always loved taking and editing pictures on my own, and the more that I do it for myself the more I really would love for other people to share in them too. It is for that reason that I have decided to start a line of photography!!! Keep an eye out for the new "Photography" tab to see where I have been. Love you all and can't wait to share in this journey with you!

Bragging rights

We are the luckiest parents alive! Although a bit partial, this little man is quite possibly the smartest, cutest dog in the world. <3 He makes his love for his parents well known to everyone. We adopted him after loosing my families little mini dachshund. He brought puppy love back into our lives and we LOVE HIM, you would too.
Jumping for joy, Bremen<3

Coming soon...

Alright ladies (and potential gentleman) I have a surprise waiting for you all!!! I have done some research (being that I am still new at this blogging world) about what keeps people interested in blogs and how to strengthen my talents. I came up with the idea of Two on Tuesdays. Every other Tuesday, starting June 5th, we will get together with a woman that I admire very much, and for good reasons too. She has helped push me to reach my full potential as an artist, she has inspired me to go against the grain, and she has encouraged me to never give up on a dream and to reach for it every day. This woman is a wonderfully artistic person that has a lot to teach the world... this woman is my Mom!
This is how Two on Tuesdays will work: every other Tuesday we will come together and create one art piece, using our combined talents. These pieces will be of different forms and combining different techniques. Along the way we will either photograph or record a tutorial for you to look back on and learn from so that you may be able to create something beautiful along side us.
The goal of this is to show you how to think outside the box... how to reach down inside your soul and grab something inspired. I truly believe that the Lord created art inside of each of us, we just have to be given the right tools to learn how to use it. And that is what Two on Tuesdays is all about, diving into the part of yourself that you don't let out much because you don't know where to start. Start here... we will help, we WANT to help.

You were created unique

I believe I have started to become addicted to collecting more and more art for shows. I love the days when Paul takes the car to work, leaving me stranded at home. On those days it means I have no reason to leave the apartment, which means... ALL DAY.... working on my art. It is those days... those days that I love!!!
God gave me something that not everyone has the ability to do and that is create. When I am working on a new piece I feel like I am connecting with Him on a different level, like He is giving me my very own unique Jesus Time (what I call devotions). He teaches me things all throughout the process; things like patience, fearlessness, courage, beauty, and to trust Him because then it allows me to trust myself. When I know I have created something great I can feel the devil try to sneak in and take that from me. He only tries it because he knows that that greatness brought me to a deeper trust and love with the One who gave me the talent. So my thoughts for you today are to make sure you don't EVER let anyone or anything steal that one unique thing that makes you feel closer to your Maker. Don't give them a hand over you. Go ahead... steal it back if its been stolen. You are going to do great things for the Lord's Kingdom, please don't ever forget that. And if you don't yet know what that one thing is that makes you feel closer to Him, don't worry because He has a funny way of showing us in His time. Until you realize your uniqueness take each opportunity you are given... maybe it is His way of showing you.
You are all perfect, inside and out, don't change for anyone.

Here is a peak into what I am currently working on:

Affordable chic

So I am sure you are all wondering how my first Art Walk event went so I decided to post the night of just so you all could sleep soundly. <3 It was a success!!! I made just about $100.... in one night! Can you believe it??? God provided for me and kept me going even though I get there and find out I am about two blocks away from the actual "downtown square". I just kept praying that the Lord would bring people to me and He did, like I should have expected anything less. My unique mixed media style went over really well, even those that did not buy still commented on how great an eye I have and how creatively unique it is. One gal even called it "affordable chic" (I liked it so much I decided to keep that saying for myself). I want my art to be something that everyone can afford, not something they just wish they could hang in their house/office/room/etc. Here are a few pictures from the night. I still have paintings for sale so if you are interested (and I just know you will be) please... go to my facebook (search Allysen FitzPatrick) and you can see more close up pictures of the art pieces I still have.
Again... Thank you so much for your prayers and for those that came out to see me! Let's talk again! Same place... new time <3

Paper goes flying!!!

It feels like its been forever since I last posted. I have been so busy. Let me just fill you in on a little bit of the fun I have been having. Well... last Thursday mom and I drove to Vero Beach to spend the weekend scrapbooking. You heard it right... a whole weekend where we did nothing but cut, glue, and masterfully create scrapbook pages (pictures of a few of these pages to come later). We had so much fun laughing and making memories with the ladies that went with us!
The first stop on the trip was to see the beach (living in the center of Florida makes it extremely rare to be that close to the beach... so we just HAD to get our beach on). It was BEAUTIFULLY breathtaking. The beach always makes me realize just how big our world really is and how God created each and every part of this big world just for us. That makes me jump for joy!!

On other exciting artful news... I am participating in a Downtown art walk this Friday. I have never done anything like this before so I am particially nervous and excited at the same time. The only place I have ever posted my art is on facebook for friends and family, this will be practically the whole world (ok well not really the WHOLE world... but people I dont know). I guess it will be a good way for me to see if my art really is as good as I and people I know say it is (cause you know... they are all bias after all). Just say a little prayer for me if you think about it on Friday night please.

Love you gals (and guys if any read this)! Same place, different time
